Because “food” and “folks” were already taken

For some reason, Round Table Pizza isn’t the hit down here in SoCal as it is up north. That’s a shame, since it’s damn good pizza. To whit: Kolleen (I’d link to her Myspace page, but SHE DOESN’T HAVE ONE) had never been there before I dragged her there a couple of months ago. Regardless, if you’ve been to Round Table, you know their logo looks roughly like this:

Now, if you peruse the “frequently asked questions” section of the Round Table website (hey, I’m a grad student. I have a lot of time on my hands) you’ll notice that they have a little blurb on the history of those shields. See, for the longest time (and I mean a long time. Some of my first memories — ever — are at Round Table pizza. Although at the one on Mangrove, not the one by the Old Mall, but I guess that’s neither here nor there) I thought they were, you know, just shields. Like, “hey, we’re all about knights and wizards and shit! Check out our shields!”

Oh how wrong I was. Oh how horribly, horribly wrong.

In honor of Kolleen mentioning, in a comment to my previous entry, how I’ve “ruined” Round Table for her, I will hereby ruin it for the rest of you:

The shields spell out “fun”.

Our revels now are ended.
