The Dean of Dumb

September 22nd, 2005 · No Comments

Okay, so what’s up with The O.C.? I mean, I admit, I got on board a little late here (I didn’t see a single episode until around 2/3s of the way through season 2) but still, this is getting a little out of hand. We all dug season 1, because it seemed fresh, and clean, and we could dig the characters. Season 2 was rocky, but the whole “Seth doing Seth things” kept it afloat. This season looks like a complete train wreck.

First off, Orange County must have the world’s most retarded gangsters. So they loan Jimmy Cooper however many hundreds of thousands of dollars, then when he can’t pay, decide to give him a quarter of a million more? Um, okay, I’ll buy that. But then when he doesn’t pay, all they do is give him a good beating? I’ve seen people get beat like that for liking the wrong team at a sports bar. Oh, and what about the part where they just let him leave on his boat? Did they not think he was going to do that? What about the boat in the first place? Didn’t Jimmy say he didn’t own it anymore? Huh?

And don’t get me started on the new “Dean of Discipline”. We’re supposed to believe that this dude in his 30’s is really so diabolical he gets his jollies off screwing over 17 year-olds? He’s totally boning Taylor, and I’m sure that will get exposed, thereby letting Ryan and Marissa back in to Harbor, but still….I mean, I’ll believe Ben McKensie is 17. Fine. I’ll believe that Mischa Barton isn’t the world’s most advanced animatronic robot. Whatever. But throw me a freakin’ bone with this Dean guy.

Sigh. At least there’s Laguna Beach
